International Conference on Indian Cinema:

Social Realities & Managerial Insights

(HYBRID)

20–21 February 2026

Introduction

IIM Ranchi is pleased to host a two-day International Conference on Indian Cinema: Social Realities and Managerial Insights from 20–21 February 2026.

Indian cinema is considered a mirror of the Indian society, its cultural transitions and its political dynamics. It has not only entertained people across the world, but also acted as a force of change; a force that has shaped public thinking, challenged social stereotypes, propelled political discourse and captured the complexities of everyday life. Alongside this multi-faceted impact, the Indian film industry also operates as a vibrant management ecosystem that brings together creativity, strategy, branding, organizational behaviour, and global market dynamics.

This interdisciplinary conference integrates perspectives from cinema studies, social sciences and management to gain a deeper understanding of how films reflect social realities while informing contemporary management thought. It invites scholars, practitioners, and students to examine how cinematic narratives raise issues of identity, diversity, marketing, leadership, and institutional responsibility.
