Internationalisation

Student and Faculty Exchange

About

Internalisation involves strategies and efforts to internationalise our campus, curriculum, and overall educational experience. Internalisation aims to prepare students and faculty to thrive in a globalized world by exposing them to different cultures, ideas, and ways of thinking. It helps institutions stay competitive, fosters innovation through diverse perspectives, and contributes to the overall enrichment of academic experiences.

The International Relations Office (IRO) is a support service for students and faculty for international exchange, research collaborations and multicultural and cross-border immersion. The basic functions of IRO include helping students and faculty to develop meaningful, sustainable and mutually beneficial global partnerships, facilitating and supporting international bilateral student and faculty exchange partnerships by providing coordination, guidance and service, and fostering research collaborations with partner institutions to deepen academic engagement.

IRO focuses on collaborating with partner institutes/universities, extending and deepening partnerships with overseas institutions, promoting IIM Ranchi brand globally, enhancing holistic student excellence/development; and, nurturing leadership qualities in students.

Faculty Exchange

Faculty exchange is a vital component of the broader concept of “internationalisation” within an educational institution. It offers a platform for academic collaboration, knowledge sharing, and cross-cultural engagement.

We offer visiting positions for ‘International Faculty Positions’ all throughout the year. Located at the tribal heartland of India, IIM Ranchi provides a unique opportunity for academicians from foreign institutes to study and explore the business and development opportunities in this region. The academic culture at IIM Ranchi fosters mutual exchange of ideas, a grounded learning experience, and an opportunity to collaborate with established scholars.

Visiting faculty members engage in various activities such as delivering lectures, leading seminars, collaborating on research projects, and contributing to the overall academic discourse. This program not only allows them to contribute to our academic mission but also provides an opportunity for them to explore and understand the socio-economic and developmental intricacies of a new region.

Refer to our visiting faculty fact sheet for more details.

Student Exchange Programme (STEP)

The Student Exchange Programme (STEP) is a transformative initiative that allows students to venture beyond the confines of their home institutions and experience education from an international vantage point. This program facilitates the temporary exchange of students between partner universities, fostering cross-cultural interactions and enriching educational experiences.

During a STEP, students have the opportunity to study abroad for a designated term. They engage in coursework, projects, and activities aligned with their academic pursuits, albeit in a different cultural and educational context. Living and studying in a foreign country allows students to immerse themselves in a different way of life, gain insights into local customs, and appreciate the nuances of a different culture. This exposure contributes to personal growth and adaptability.

Students gain exposure to unique academic offerings, specialized courses, and renowned faculty members at the host institution. This exposure can enhance their skill set, broaden their academic interests, and contribute to their overall academic development.

For building global relationships with various international institutes/universities of repute through collaborations and by bilateral exchange of students, IIM Ranchi initiated the process of partnering with foreign business schools in 2014. As of 2023, IIM Ranchi has MoUs with ten foreign Institutes/Universities in Finland, France, Greece, Latvia, Russia, South Korea, and Taiwan.

The Student Exchange Programme (STEP) is open for students of undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programmes. We invite international students from partnering Institutes to IIM Ranchi to spend a term with us.

Immersion Programme

An “Immersion Programme” refers to a focused and intensive educational experience designed to provide participants with a deep and immersive understanding of a specific subject, industry, culture, or environment. These programmes are often short-term and highly concentrated, aiming to create a comprehensive and experiential learning opportunity.
