IIM Ranchi’s flagship MBA prepares students to lead across functions and industries by developing strong analytical reasoning, strategic judgement, and professional communication. The programme emphasises integrated decision-making—helping students connect finance, marketing, operations, people, and technology perspectives to solve complex business problems. As a residential programme, it also supports holistic leadership development through student-led clubs, live projects, and community engagement.

Curriculum and Pedagogy

The first year builds robust foundations in economics, accounting and finance, marketing, operations, strategy, organisational behaviour, information systems, research methods and business communication. The second year offers flexible pathways through electives across domains such as finance, strategy, digital business, innovation, sustainability and leadership—enabling students to tailor capability depth to their career goals while learning alongside peers from the HRM and Business Analytics programmes.

Signature Innovations and Curriculum Modernisation

Recent curriculum change efforts have strengthened applied learning and responsible technology adoption. The Institute has taken bold initiatives on integrating AI into the learning experience—introducing new AI-focused courses and explicitly addressing ethical issues in AI. ‘Working with AI (WAI)’ style assessment innovations where real-world business projects, supported by AI tools, supplement or replace traditional mid-term formats. Together, these changes aim to improve efficiency (faster analysis and better tools), effectiveness (higher-quality managerial decisions), and impact (more ethical and responsible outcomes), aligned with IIM Ranchi’s mission.

Experiential Learning and Industry Interface

Students undertake an eight-week summer internship and engage through cases, simulations, corporate sessions and live projects. In addition, IIM Ranchi’s Social Impact Practicum—introduced in the post-graduate curriculum—extends learning into the field, encouraging students to work on SDG-linked challenges by applying multi-domain insights from across management disciplines.
